Strategy Overview

Keep It Simple, Keep It Human

On LinkedIn, your outreach must feel human. Unlike email, LinkedIn is not a transactional platform, it's a networking platform, and you need to treat it like one.

That’s why we follow a human-first approach and avoid connecting with people and immediately pitching them. This kind of cold outreach gets ignored.

Instead, our outreach strategy is structured to build trust before the first message is sent.

Finding the right profiles on Trigify

This is hands-down the most important part of the strategy. In outbound campaigns like this, the list is the strategy. If you're reaching out to the wrong people, no amount of clever messaging will save you.

Here’s what you need to look for when sourcing profiles on Trigify:

  1. Are they already talking about the problem you solve?
This is your #1 signal. They might be:

    • A competitor with a big LinkedIn following

    • A thought leader educating the market

    • A practitioner actively discussing the issue

    • The key is they’re speaking to the same pain, in the same market, that you solve.

  2. Are they doing it from the right angle?
For example, in our tax tech campaign, we looked for people talking about AI in tax automation — not just any finance content. The more aligned their voice is with your solution, the higher your response rate.

  3. Are they active and visible?
A profile that posts, comments, or engages is gold. You’re more likely to land in front of them and get a reply.

These aren’t just abstract tips — they’re what we used to pull our list for this exact campaign. We targeted profiles mentioning tax automation, AI in compliance, or talking about industry innovation. These were either direct competitors or industry educators, and they consistently gave us the best entry points for conversation.

The Clay Template

We keep this part simple.

All you need to do is:

  1. Go to this Template HERE

  2. Go to the company filtering page in Clay

  3. Enter your target ICP details

  4. Export the company data

  5. Plug that into Clay using our template

This combo gives you the most qualified leads with almost no manual work.

Why use Clay?
The only real limitation with Trigify is its basic filtering, it gets you the base list, but not the deeper context. That’s where Clay shines. Clay lets you layer in AI-powered filtering, add enrichment, and stack logic on top of your inputs.

Want to pull people who’ve mentioned specific tech stacks or pain points on their LinkedIn profile? Clay can do that.

Want to filter by role and intent signal and firmographic data? Clay can do that.

The workflow

Here’s the full flow we used to turn cold profiles into warm leads.

Step 1: Like a post
Three hours before you connect, go like one of their recent posts. This puts your name in their world before the connection request even lands. It’s a small signal, but it works.

Step 2: Send connection request
No pitch. Just a friendly, relevant connection message. Once they accept, we wait a day before messaging.

Step 3: Message 1 – The curious observation
This is where most people blow it by diving straight into the pitch.
We don’t. We open with a curious observation and a simple question.

Template

Hi {FIRST_NAME}, saw your profile through one of {{author_profile}}
posts - curious if you’ve {{curious_question}}

This works because it starts a conversation, not a transaction. If your message triggers their curiosity and feels genuinely personal, they’ll respond. From there, you can guide the conversation toward the pain point and the offer naturally.

Step 4: Message 2 – Add context (4 hours later)
If there’s no reply to the first message, we follow up — fast.

Why? Because silence doesn’t always mean no.
It could mean:

  • They didn’t check their LinkedIn that day

  • They saw the message but forgot

  • They weren’t sure what you were talking about

This is where we shift from curious to clear. We give them context:

  • What we do

  • The specific problem we solve

  • Why it might matter to them

If your offering is strong and relevant, this second message converts better than the first. It’s not annoying — it’s helpful. It shows respect for their time while guiding them to the value.
